Tuesday November 8

10:00 AM  –  3:00 PM

What role can art play in understanding the natural world? Explore Wave Hill’s gardens and woodlands from an aesthetic perspective and discover how it can enhance your approach to environmental education. Discover how artistic materials and processes can readily support interdisciplinary connections in your curriculum. Gain strategies for how to cultivate creative thinking in your student's relationship with the natural world around us.

The program includes a keynote with Maya Ciarrocchi, who will discuss her art exhibition, Muscota, Mosholu, Tibbetts Brook about New York City waterways and their lost histories. Ciarrocchi uses historical narratives, as well as embodied and locative mapping to uncover buried pasts while investigating ecological issues due to urban development.
